What does this quote mean ? Surely the best leaders are not blind followers , but visionaries with the skill and determination to effectively articulate and execute that vision and build the right team to help make that vision a reality .

This much is true . But perhaps Lao Tzu meant that true leaders must also learn from the past , taking the lessons of others before them to help shape their own paths .
