According to press reports , in 2015 the 9,000 employees built 400,904 vehicles , some 70 % of which were exported . More recent news stories put 2016 production at an even more impressive figure of 411,171 vehicles . That number can be expected to grow following a recently announced investment as BMW rides the surge in SUV sales .
